Several SEO tools have been brought to WordPress.com’s Business Plan, which will make it easier for users to optimize posts and pages for organic search traffic.
WordPress.com’s new SEO features are akin to what you may expect while using an SEO plugin on the WordPress.org content management system.
However, since WordPress.com doesn’t offer the ability to customize a site with widgets, this is a welcome addition for business users.
Custom Titles and Descriptions
Business users with a website hosted on WordPress.com finally have the ability to customize titles and meta descriptions. In addition, users can also customize the page title structure throughout the site.
For example, pages and posts can be customized to display:
- Title only
- Title + site name
- Title + site name + tagline
These customizations will be reflected in both the browser tab and search result snippet.
Preview Before Publishing
A unique SEO feature now available on WordPress.com is the ability to preview how the page or post will look, across a variety of networks, before publishing.
After customizing titles and meta descriptions, users can preview how the page or post will look in:
- The WordPress.com reader
- A Google search result snippet
- A Facebook post
- A Twitter card
WordPress.com’s new SEO features are available now to anyone with a business account.
