Nobel-winning U.N. climate official resigns after sexual harassment claims

Rajendra Pachauri, the longtime chairman of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has resigned amid sexual harrasment claims


Pachauri had led the organization, which is tasked with providing policymakers with the latest scientific findings on global warming, since 2002



Under his leadership, the panel shared a Nobel Peace Prize with former vice president Al Gore in 2007 for its efforts to educate policymakers about the significance of the global warming challenge. The IPCC desginated vice-chair Ismail El Gizouli as acting chair in the interim. El Gizouili is an energy and environment specialist from Sudan. Read more...
